Part-Time Choral Assistant

Greenwich Country Day School is seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time Choral Assistant to support our vibrant Middle School music program in August 2026. The Choral Assistant will play a vital role in fostering a love of music and developing the vocal talents of our students.
Responsibilities Include:
- Piano Accompaniment: Provide piano accompaniment for choral rehearsals and performances.
- 6th Grade Chorus: Choose appropriate repertoire and lead two rehearsals per week. Prepare for two performances per year.
- Sectional Rehearsals: Lead sectional rehearsals to refine vocal technique and musicality.
- Musical Support: Assist the Chorus Director with the preparation and execution of the school musical, including rehearsals, performances, and other related activities.
- Classroom Coverage: Cover music classes as needed, ensuring continuity of instruction and a positive learning environment.
- Experience: Proven experience directing large and small vocal ensembles.
- Vocal Pedagogy: Basic understanding of vocal pedagogy and the ability to apply it in a teaching setting.
- Classroom Management: Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Piano Skills: Proficient piano skills and the ability to sight-read music.
- Passion for Teaching: A genuine passion for teaching children and fostering their musical development.
- Music Education Background: A degree or background in music education is preferred but not required.
- Choral Conducting: Experience in choral conducting is a plus.
- Vocal Performance: Experience as a vocal performer is beneficial.
- Movement/Choreography: Creating movement on stage for upper elementary and middle school musicals is a plus.
